No. It doesn't happen that way.
How does it happen then? How do they fix their errors afterwards?

Vita or Vita TV was 50% off in most retailers in US in February.

Yeap... you could buy Vita TV @ $49.
Oh okay. But Vita being 30k on its own despite then is still not that terrible.

NPD has very few errors. They only have to predict a small part of the market. Even if they did adjustments like that, I doubt they'd be significant.

Certainly not by obfuscation at the cost of future numbers. As a research firm that would be insanely unethical and very illegal. The appropriate procedure would be to notify the clients that they have found an error in their data and reissue new numbers from the previous month.

There was a PS4 bundle in some retailers too.

About adjustments they did more when they didn't have Walmart in their estimates (the biggest US retailer)... now they cover almost the full market in US (90%)... so the errors are really minors

So it's really just that the US market is in coma in January?

February is the tax refund month, no? Or something like that... there are a lot of deals (not like BF but really good deals)... it was always bigger than January.

Tax forms need to be mailed by employers by Jan 31s.  So lots of people don't get them till mid to late Feb. You have to file by April 14th or something like that. It takes about three weeks after filing to receive the return. So late February through March is when taxes start being spent.

Yeah
December(Christmas//huge sales) -> January -> February (Tax refunds//big sales)
Not much going for January.

It helps, but I think it's mostly gifts not money.  Plus I don't think people typically get 100's from Christmas money.  While tax refunds could even be in the thousands potentially.

Pach actually got WiiU right this month
Christmas money usually comes in the form of gift cards in small amounts. Taxes? I got 325 from feds this year. Last year I got 4300 and next year I'm expecting closer to last year's than this. And unlike gift cards, I can spend that money how I want.
