thread port: Prediction: Ori and the blind forest to be top rated exclusive 2015

UPDATE: okay i lost to bloodborne but i still think this was a good prediction. contenders are dropping like stones lately. i'm going to see if ori comes in 2nd now.

currently sitting at 89 in the meta.

known competitors and my reason for why they won't reach 89 on metacritic:

forza 6: will be grilled for not being a horizon

halo 5: made by 343 industries.

fable legends: free to play.

bloodborne: horrible graphics and framerate. too big a departure from "souls" games. hard.

until dawn: quicktime event feast. hayden isn't actually naked. campy. once was a move title. probably not even worth mentioning in retrospect.

uncharted 4: derivitive title since uncharted 2. only innovations were stolen from tomb raider. cinematic.

splatoon: lol.

starfox: rail shooter. everyone hates those these days.

xenoblade: this is the one i'm afraid about the most,.. not that the game will be good but no one will play/review it except the most adamant nintendo fans.

zelda: the "open world" will be overhyped and thrashed for underdelivering.

other?: please specify exclusives i didn't list that have an honest chance of being critically acclaimed.

to everything above add a healthy dose of reality that game reviews are all jaded and at least 1 or 2 reviews will be pure click bait meaning that all scores are lower than last gen expectations.

The fail list:

screamride: failed

the order 1886: failed

uncharted 4: failed to launch

zelda: failed to launch

Hmm nice thread idea.

However ori is a download only title. If we include indies and the like, then there are so many games you are forgetting. Cuphead, Rime, VizionEck, no man's sky, etc.

I'd bet bloodborne will beat it. The graphics are really great and the framerate solid. No dips from the sections I've played.

Uncharted could go either way. Yeah you could be right, or it could be super high.

has to be exclusive though. cuphead isn't exclusive unless you count timed with for this purpose i'm not. cuphead is already said first on xbox but eventually come to "other platforms" which we all know means ps4. i'll let games like alienation to slip into the running but really that's only because it is first party IP. even games like vizioneck (in all likelyhood) won't be exclusive because you're such an xbox fanboy and they recently dropped their parity clause.

Jesus that'd be sad and actually lower than last year, but with the state of reviews I could see it happen, if it wasn't for Zelda. A mainline console Zelda not scoring above 90 on Metacritic? No way, even the games that people after release came to the conclusion aren't all that great like Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword always drowned in perfect scores.

So yeah, personally I think that other games will score above 90 as well (Xenoblade, Uncharted, Bloodborne maybe (fingers crossed), Persona 5 and possibly a couple more) but even if everything else fails Zelda's gonna make it.

4 is the only one not in the 80s. i guess maybe that means 5 has a shot because it is "upward trending" but i doubt it will. moreso than even being a 8th gen exclusive it is a ps4 exclusive which is even more hated because everyone hates sony.

it's listed as a timed-exclusive anyways. i know the only other platform is windows atm but 10 bucks says it lands on xbox.

I don't doubt it later down the line but ori is also windows/steam

and the IP is held by MS so ps4 won't ever be a platform. ..unless MS pulls a minecraft with all their franchises at which point xbox is dead and gone anyways and threads like these wont' agitate anyone and therefore i would have no reason to make it.
