Why are most good indie puzzle games so short?

i haven't played the other games but fez at 5 hours,.. maybe in a speed run after already solving every puzzle.   i got at least 20 hours out of that masterpiece.

swapper.  took me maybe 8 hours,.. that one was pretty short.   i just bought unmechanical.  i'll let you know what i clock there.

I just used howlongtobeat.com for the times.

escape plan was like 10 but had tons of dlc at around 2 hours a release.

Yeah I have all the DLC and spent a fair amount of time with it.

i guess what i'm trying to say is you are full of shame.   you can barely think of any puzzle games which shows just how ignorant you are to the genre and most are good in length despite nearly all being "budget" priced.

if i get 10 hours out of a ten dollar game i always feel satisfied.

Haha it has nothing to do with enjoyment or satisfaction. The unfinished swan and FEZ are some of my favorite games of all time.

My point of the OP is not just about length, but specifically the quantity of puzzles.

They have the order at 7 hours, and dark souls at 49 and a half hours...

quantity is deceiving.  i can solve a "pull lever" puzzle in ten seconds.  some of the most interesting puzzles in braid took me around 30 minutes each to solve.

Yes quantity is not the only factor. I'm only caring about good games in the first place.
