GDC 2015 will mark the 13th anniversary of Valve's first public announcement of Steam, which has since become the leading platform for PC, Mac, and Linux games and software.

In the last year, Steam added new services and features - including In-Home Streaming, Broadcasting, Music, and user created stores - as it grew to over 125 million active accounts worldwide*.

Steam now offers 4500 games, with 400 million pieces of user-generated content contributed by members of the Steam Community.

*active account = logged in within the last month

Honestly, does anyone have a link to the actual press release? Because while the Neogaf thread says an active account is an account that logged in in the last month (based on a random user comment if I may add) the reddit thread says it's anyone that owns a game OR has logged in in the last 90 days, which would make the whole number infinitely more misleading.

It is if you get PCSX2 among others.

Technically Steam out of all the "Active" platforms it has the most games so....ya :P

But PC overall is better due to the emulators and other DDs.

Yeah don't know, but also remember that steam launches automatically. For a lot of people being active could just mean they turned on their computer.
