Then lower the interest and make posts and threads worth more.

You could even have interest only once per week or do the thing I suggested earlier where a user gets no interest if he hasn't posted in the past 2 days. Or you can have different levels of interest depending on your activity (like 0.5% if you post 10 posts/day, 1% if you post 20 etc.)
