Is it just me or do open world games suck?

Most of them. There are only a very few, but special, exceptions.
Nothing can beat handcrafted design, IMO.

Soon.

GTA is an exception though - they do such a marvelous job with it.

how do you define open-world anyway? VizionEck could be open world if the world is just a few rooms.

I did every side mission in watchdogs before story missions(it's a really short game). Then I knocked out story missions. I always used fast travel to get to my destination and since I beat the game I just need 8 or 9 more hacks to get the platnium.

Basically,  I agree. I actually think the maps have gotten bigger with nothing really added in the space. Lots of people get excited for large maybes but I see it and think.... I don't want to travel that far to go from one mission to another. Maybe if they shrunk maps back down then I could get excited for them

Haha yes I would consider that an open world, but VizionEck has thousands of rooms and environments. The world is a few square miles in area.

Nice. What's the quest structure like?
