Looks like the rumors were true.

Why would anyone want this? Only works in your house. PC streaming to a living room tv makes sense, but what's the value in doing the opposite?

Would anyone here prefer to play at their computers vs at their xbox?

Guess the only nice use would be with a laptop allowing you to take it anywhere.

I can tell you didn't watch the Windows 10 stream.
Not very much value in my opinion.
There'd be an advantage in another usable screen, and perhaps more recording options and the like.
I'd say it really depends on what the Xbox App claims to offer.

No I didn't watch it. No one made a thread informing me :(

Ludicrous Speed

Laptop
Play games while someone else uses the TV

Those are both phenomenal uses, but outside of those two, I don't know of anything substantial. Seems meh.

Well, It's cool cause i guess i can play X1 games without having one, simply by asking someone who does to let it stream to my PC.

Only works locally atm. Both xbox and pc need to be on same wi fi.

But then it doesn't work on laptops either

Why?

Just have xbox connected to your home network, and your laptop connected to your home network.

It doesn't?
The laptop example in the story is about the fact that you can't do it unless you "live above a Starbucks."
Needs to be on the same WiFi.

I meant the usefulness of a laptop, which would be outside the house

Oh no the usefulness of the laptop inside the house would be the same as the usefulness of wii u offscreen play.

Someone is using the TV? Just take out the laptop.

Or you're watching something on TV that has lots of commercials? Just take out the laptop and play xbox.

Or you have to go to the bathroom. Just take out the laptop.

Or you're in time out and sitting in the corner. Just take out the laptop.

The real question I have is, if someone is watching TV over the Xbox One can you stream a game at the same time. That's the only way I can see this being worth anything.

The xbox one can simultaneously run a game and windows apps, such as watching tv. Essentially it's like snap, except one of the screens is on PC instead.

Or at least that's their goal. Streaming to PC requires resources so atm your scenario is impossible, but they hope to change that.
