Quite frankly i think its because it requires less effort. If they were to move to an eastern country and a much older period the art style would change drastically. Basically all they doing now is re skinning the game each iteration.

Or so it seems.

Hell they didn't even bother using a french accent in Unity. This is all about fast turn around time. The franchise will slowly decline, if they don't keep it fresh and make drastic changes from iteration to iteration. So regardless of their massive team sizes it seems like they are still limited by the 1 year cycle.

Jack the Ripper is totally going to be some kind of main character.

I'll definitely pick it up since I'm an AC fan. This looks pretty amazing as well!

they have multiple teams. AC Unity just launched, no way would they have made all this so fast. if i remember correctly AC unity had a 4 year dev cycle. AC3 started with brotherhood and AC4 was developed for multiple years

Like Bananawoman says its not just one team - they have multiple teams - its the same with Activision and the CoD series too.

Anyways

Ubisoft released this statement in response to questions about the alleged project:

"It is always unfortunate when internal assets, not intended for public consumption, are leaked. And, while we certainly welcome anticipation for all of our upcoming titles, we're disappointed for our fans, and our development team, that this conceptual asset is now public. The team in our Quebec studio has been hard at work on the particular game in question for the past few years, and we're excited to officially unveil what the studio has been working on at a later date. In the meantime, our number one priority is enhancing the experience of Assassin's Creed Unity for players."

Yeah guys i know that they have multiple teams working on the different AC games. However the turn around time for an AC game is still 1 year. This naturally leads into constraints, and we are feeling the brunt of this.

The resources must be stretched pretty thin. Not to mention that the teams at Ubi seem to be massive, where its likely that portions of the game are handled by different teams. Teams that are placed all over the world. All this is a result of the time constraint. Given the lack of QA it also seems like they are rushed.

Just because Ubi is a big company doesn't mean that they have unlimited resources. Add to that, not every resource will be of the same quality...senior staff would have probably been split across the various teams. I highly doubt each team is of the same quality level.

And thing bringing everything together is most probably also causing some issues. This is the opposite of the type of environment that we see in the Naughty Dog dev diaries, and it reflects in the final product.

its also quite likely that when Ubi says they have "multiple teams" these teams are not necessarily working on a particular game, but are actually working on multiple, if not all.

The type of numbers Ubisoft has indicated works on their titles, seems to indicate this way of working.

It looks good but to be honest I can't trust these promo images/gameplay footage from Ubisoft anymore. They keep downgrading their games before release and I don't think I'll ever purchase another Ubisoft game day one again. Would rather wait 2-3 days after release to read impressions.

Not hyped for this game atm.
Legend made me remove this. Everybody riot.

Seems like all the big publishers are doing this these days :(
