Several Xbox studios, including Compulsion, Ninja Theory and Double Fine, are negotiating with Xbox as they try to avoid closure. Some or all could spin off.
Lots still in flux as many studios remain unsure about what's happening.

QuoteSeveral studios in Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox gaming division, including Montreal-based Compulsion Games and San Francisco-based Double Fine, are in active negotiations to spin off as they try to thwart closure, according to people familiar with the company's plans.

Cambridge, England-based Ninja Theory, the maker of Hellblade, is also in conversations with Xbox, as are several other studios across the portfolio that are at risk of being shuttered.

I wouldn't be surprised by Double Fine, but I would bet Tim Schafer would go back independent before fully closing.

I do understand that studios need to be profitable and bring in money for xbox/MS, but MS is a MASSIVE company. If they really wanted to show fans that they are serious about xbox they wouldn't even be contemplating this right now.  They would be trying to right it and get some new unique/cool stuff out as exclusives.  But MS is gonna MS and this is all gonna crash and burn for them, imo. The damage is done and people just really don't care about xbox anymore(except the super die hard fans)

Yeah it just sucks.

But at least before this news, people were really expecting MS to turn things around. The fans are willing to believe any comeback story.

how that "stabilize XBOX" thing going to work out after this?   a platform is an investment by the players into an ecosystem and Xbox just looks like a bad investment.

MS should just get close Xbox and get it over with.   they are a 3rd party publisher already.
