Which videogame protagonists are your favorites?

to be a favorite protagonist the game needs to be somewhat cinematic. I love portal but no one is voting for "nameless, faceless character".

This is making me question what counts as a protagonist.

Also I feel like a lot of games don't have great protagonists. Like I like Mario, but I wouldn't say he's one of the greatest characters ever. And plenty of games don't even have a main character really - or the main character is you really.

Nate Drake is up there, as well as Joel.

Auron isn't the main protagonist of FFX, but I feel like he counts. He's playable:

Well that's actually an interesting question. Cause you don't have to be playing as the hero. Like I think 99% of games you are the main driving force, but sometimes the story isn't about you.
