$12 million for thursday. Doomed!!!!

Avatar 2 was $17 million.

yeah it's gonna open lower for sure. I'm expecting an end run of at least 1.5 billion.  It could crack 2 billion which would be an insane run for Cameron.

I watched Avatar 1 while running on the treadmill today. Had to plug in my ps4 and run while wearing 3d glasses lulz.

I do just love these films so much. They don't get enough credit for all their cool stuff.

Seems like word of mouth is pretty good.  It will be interesting to watch the numbers over the coming months.  I feel like the first 2 were such anomalies with the box office that this one will just be a fairly normal billion dollar blockbuster.

I still don't see how this movie isn't just all profit. Way of Water had to have covered the costs of both films

Finished way of water. First time watching at home.

Cool watching back to back, way of water is just so much better looking. The 3d is a lot better too.

I'm now way more hyped for Sunday. I expect some long and slow parts, but some awesome great parts to balance that out.

The 3d was so goooood in way of water.

China was up from way of water i think.

Did see good points about way of water opening earlier than fire and ash and lots of people are waaaay busy with Christmas coming in less than a week.

Next weekend will really show us its legs. I'm thinking next weekend could do as well or better than this weekend.

Oh well I'll be happy as long as it gets 1.5ish billion. Should guarantee 4 and 5.

A theater a good 45 minutes closer got some Dolby cinema 3d showings next Saturday so changed our tickets to that one. Plus is an hour earlier so better to grab dinner right after

isn't Xmas and Thanksgiving the biggest box office sales generally?    in general it has always been the most likely time I see movies in the theater.   when I'm with the extended family and need an. activity out of the house a movie is a top contender.

Yeah it absolutely is but the idea is that this opening weekend being lower is because its really close to Christmas and people are busier getting ready for Christmas rather than movies, and that next weekend will be really good for the movie for post Christmas/holidays.

it's just an interesting thought to see if that's what happens or if this will perform like a normal billion dollar movie.

or behave like a typical sequel.

I didn't watch the water one so I have less than 0 interest in watching the 3rd movie.  the problem with sequals is it can only do worse then the prior one.
