I'm beyond excited for this, the shared world Remedy is making with Control and Alan Wake is super exciting.

I should try sticking with Lords of the Fallen. But I'm not excited. Just doesn't feel right.

Quote from: nnodley on Yesterday at 05:40 PMWell the 2026 game is more of a reimagining of the first Tomb Raider game in 1997(?)

Then I'm guessing the 2027 one is a whole new reboot.

Feels like a weird choice.

Yeah I agree. Something didn't work well with me when i tried to play it. Felt weird for some reason.

Feels like a weird choice.
Was so incredibly confusing watching live. It took a good while to figure out it was a second game and not more footage.

The remake looks better. I want fun dino killing and atlantis tomfoolery. Meanwhile the new one I think they tried to make her face look like Sophie Turner instead of Lara Croft. And the grapple hook seems like a tired concept at this point.

Is there a point where companies start pushing smaller games harder?

3 of the past 5 TGA Game of the Year winners were not huge AAA budget games.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Astro Bot
Baldur's Gate 3
Elden Ring
It Takes Two

I think they should definitely start taking notice that games don't need to be these hundreds of millions of dollar bloat filled games to be great.  The industry as a whole would start getting in better shape if they did.

Looks terrifying, but I'm sure it's going to be huge.
wow, that's like a fromSoftware style video but with good production values.   this is going to be amazing.

Didn't realize they were doing two Tomb Raider games.

They're so weird looking at both of the trailers.

The 2027 game looks weirdly very gamey and highly detailed at the same time. And it seems like more is going on compared to the 2026 game.
i love uncharted and the liked the last 3 tomb raider games.   so i want to say i'll like these too.   ...but i feel like lara's character model is a bit off.   like most of the game is going for a realistic vibe and lara is like mostly realistic but also using a bit of that very unrealistically proportioned hour glass shape and a kind of gamey face.   i think i preferred the older character model:

so yeah, basically i'm agreeing with you.   it's not bad so much as they don't seem consistent with each other.

Some things seem very intriguing.
And it seems like they're doing a lot more with characters.

But I also feel like Returnal is very gameplay driven, and I'd assume it's the same here, and I feel like they should really show more of that in the trailers.

having played returnal i've seen enough gameplay to know what i'm getting.  i'm 100% in.   i'll be happy to pick up the game and find out that there are things in the game i didn't know about.  too often i spoil games by over watching trailers.

but this looks amazing to me.   can't wait.

Best modern lara was 2013 lara before they listened to fans and redid her for the sequels.

i assume this is accurate because i found it on the internet:

i like them all well enough but i generally agree.  2103 was great.  sexy but in a way that was consistent with a real human female.  i also like she was very dirty all the time which is pretty consistent with all the running around outdoors she did.
