My 1 hour impressions, are that I liked the first one a little more. So I'm really not far with it.  

I'd say a pretty big upgrade in visuals. It feels more vibrant and lively.  

I wouldn't even call these spoilers per se, but I'm going to tag them anyway.  

Spoiler for Hidden:

The first game has a main base, that you can usually reliably get back to.<br><br>So far, the sequel feels more obtuse map wise. The levels are much more complex, and maps of the levels are harder to get.&nbsp;<br><br>

I have been liking it more as I go.  

I saw r/DarkSouls2 compare Silksong as the Dark Souls 2 of Hollow Knight, and based on how people talk about it, I kind of don't think it's too bad of a comparison.

I'm not sure that I've seen any long runbacks in Silksong though. 

But a lot of people are definitely complaining about the difficulty.

It's more so this in my book.  

I had a real good time with the first game just a few months ago.  


Reviewers are loving Silksong much more though.

I don't trust reviewers. They have horrible accuracy, doubly so with a hyped game. But it's great you still consider it great.

I trust reviewers. I am certain that those 10 people had a 10/10 experience. That doesn't mean anyone else will.

Yeah it's not that any specific reviewer is bad, it's the aggregate of metacritic/opencritic that is bad.


Steam tends to be better imo. 94% of hollowknight reviews in the last 30 days are positive. 91% of silksong are positive. So both incredible games, but it seems others agree with you that the first is the more incredible game.
