Yeah that part with Joel was a gut punch to me.
:o

Snow is the best!

I've been replaying the game in spanish. I thought it'd be a good way to get refreshed, but I'm way too rusty. Might have to switch back to English.

so i finished up last week's assignment over the weekend.  kind of wished i would have just muscled though.  i largely didn't play them because the horde was such a gut punch i needed to step away.  but those last 2 chapters was entirely story with just a bit of walking and took no time at all to finish.  good story for sure but also could have easily been a 20 minute cut scene for how little i actually participated.

tried to do this weeks assignment last night but "Downtown" is a big chapter.

you could really see the carry forward from uncharted here.  i think we call it "wide linear" when we get a semi-open world area in an otherwise corridor game like they did in lost legacy.  also the stealth mechanics of hiding in tall grass from uncharted 4.

not that i'm surprised to see these carry forward but also since i went on a media blackout of TLoU2 very early i guess i didn't really expect it either.  so far I think they did a pretty good job with it.  better than in lost legacy at least from a pure level design perspective.  it really jives well with the game for there to be a bit of exploration.  although i get it from a game development perspective it never made sense in TLoU that you'd be navigating though these sprawling cities but the navigable path was no wider than a cave shaft.

anyways, i'm still behind on my assignment.  i guess i'll have to catch up again this weekend.

Yeah I'm in downtown right now.  Though you can easily spend a good couple hours exploring every nook and cranny in it.  It was really well done in this game to give a bit of freedom, but not overly daunting.

or die over and over and over again in the bank.   ;D

...speaking of i really like what TLoU did with their "check point" states.  i failed the bank over and over again in part because there were 2 clickers and i didn't have many bullets.   it was difficult but i finally got that very first clicker stealth killed without getting spotted and that little bit of progress was saved after the next time i died.  eventually i was able to stealth kill the other clicker allowing me to finish the encounter with melee.

...it's pretty annoying though that a clicker is an insta-kill if you try to melee it.

Yeah, I had the same thing happen during Patrol.  The room with like 3 runners and 2 clickers. I Molotov'ed all of them at once, but the clickers didn't die so I tried sneaking behind and got caught and killed. When it reloaded only the 2 clickers were still left.

And yeah clickers insta-killing on melee has been a big pet peeve of mine since the first game.

I feel like I forgot how to play video games.

Ended up turning the difficulty down a bit.

i know this is not related at all but this thought doesn't deserve it's own thread.

along side TLoU i'm replaying R&C rift apart on challenge mode.  I upgraded the ryno for a specific upgrade which is "can pull in objects from more dimensions" or something like that.   I was surprised AF when I pulled a thunderjaw into my game:

I'm not afraid to play it. But I'm having more issues playing it, than I recall having when I played it 4.5 years ago now.

I'm quite behind so i plan to catch up this weekend. Finished downtown and i got to say i really like the guitar interlude.  Take me on was a great choice and it really builds on the relationship with dina.

Don't spoil it for me but she is sooo going to die isn't she.

I literally just unlocked the stealth upgrade branch.  I had completely forgotten you could upgrade things that aren't your guns.  Oops.
