dang that actually looks really sleek. I like no more slide in controllers. Probably will be a day one buy for me if I can get a preorder.

well i've watched it twice now.

overall i think it's a bad teaser.  it's barely hype inducing for even the hardcore crowd so i don't think it will do anything for the more casual.

i swear if i hadn't read all the rumors with respect to there being mouse capability i would not have even thought about it being revealed in the trailer.    even knowing about it i missed that there was an attachment being added/removed while in that mode.  if that's the new "gimmick" they should have done something more with it so at least people understood the feature existed.

tbh i don't know what to think about the mouse functionality.  obviously mouse control works well in PC games.  one the one hand that kind of proves games can use it but on the other hand it doesn't feel like a new feature,.. it's a feature in gaming since at least the 90's.  and it doesn't look like it's going to be a good mouse.  is anyone going to do switch mouse control in FPS games like CoD?  ...on a couch?  I could see it being "good enough" for a slow game (e.g. i expect we'll see mario paint on switch 2).

i'm not surprised they teased a new mario kart.  someone else caught that there are 24 starting positions so there is that.  otherwise it's just more mario kart.

...and what else is there even to say.  larger screen?

full reveal april 2nd.  so i'm guessing it won't be out by my kid's birthday.  hopefully by june though and my kid will accept and pre-order receipt.

Such a weird reveal. Just confirmation of what everyone already knew, plus a bit of mario kart.

You'd think this was a refresh of switch 1.

I like that it plays physical switch 1 games. Mouse like controls will never be used, just like the camera inside switch 1 joycons.

No slide in is risky. I'm sure it will be fine, but I'm also sure there will be reports of kids dropping their switch screens.

I won't buy because I hardly ever use my current switch. They need a killer exclusive to get me.

lol, yes this is finally the wii switch HD we've been hearing about for ages.

i'd like to at least see what nintendo does with the mouse controls.   i think thinking about this as the same as a mouse for PC is going to be a terrible idea but there are probably some at least not terrible ideas for things like mario party or mario maker.   it just looks soo un-ergonomic.

i'd like to think nintendo did their due dillegence to ensure the non-slide is secure.   ...but nintendo isn't a company i give the benefit of the doubt to.  they soo often times half-dog things like this so yeah they will probably fall out on occasion.

i'll buy because my kid has been begging for one for like 2 years now.   confirmation on BC is great for me because my last nintendo system was a wii.  switch 2 having 3 generations of nintendo games (wiiU, switch, switch2) won't be a huge library of games i'm interested in but it will be enough for me to justify buying one for myself and thus i can make my kid happy and not regret it if he decides he prefers the ps5.

Yeah it's crazy that Nintendo just made an HD console. End of an era.

I'm surprised that literally the only new things are the mouse capability and the shoulder button for when joycons are sideways. The New 3DS was a bigger reinvention than this!

Will be interesting to see how much longevity this has. Not the best specs and nothing innovative to compensate for that. Will a Switch 3 release in 4 years?

I don't see this being enough of a disaster to be replaced in 4 years.

but all the same this puts out a question mark for me, "will the more casual switch owners be motivated to upgrade just for slightly better graphics"?

it will be interesting to see how much of a cross gen period Nintendo does.   I think that having Soo many current gen games also on PS4 has really slowed the transition for ps.   will Nintendo do that too or will they take the risk in making games exclusive to switch 2 even if they don't need to be?

so i played with my co-op buddy last night who is also a big gamer but doesn't follow the gossip and rumors like it do.  I had him watch the switch reveal trailer and asked him what he thought before saying anything.

1. he was very underwhelmed by it
2. (as I expected) he had absolutely no clue that nintendo was showing that the joycons can function like a computer mouse
3. he agreed with me that using a mouse on a couch with a weirdly shaped and tiny joycon sounds like a terrible experience nor does it even sound novel.

as above,.. i'm still not saying nintendo has a disaster here but this is far from being exciting.
