Wow this is amazing! Like it'd be hard to overhype this.

Jared has been essentially running his own space program for the past few years. Farthest person from Earth since Apollo, first private space walk, etc.

He's not involved in politics and has been very neutral in the past. Did not expect Trump to like him.

as i know nothing about him i'm glad he has your endorsement.   i'm certain you are more qualified to judge his qualifications than i am.  i'm just glad to hear he is actually qualified to run the program he's assigned to run.  soo many of trump's other nominations which only seem qualified to intentionally destroy their programs.

Second time ever I believe that NASA will be run by an astronaut. edt: third, didn't know about Richard H. Truly from 35 years ago

Also means the Hubble Space Telescope will be saved. Jared offered NASA a free mission to extend its life and a few months ago they rejected, not wanting to rock the boat.

Yeah no RFK type pick luckily. This guy might "destroy" NASA's SLS rocket but that program has already destroyed itself. Bush jr started it, Obama killed it, congress under Obama brought it back with a new name, and the last 8 years it has just kept costing billions a year without having much reason to exist.

As it should be.

Don't feel like physically being in space needs to be a requirement.   Managers manage and that's a very different skill.  But you wants someone who has been in the industry in some capacity.  Being a fox news contributor is not a qualification for anything by itself.  Communication skills are important for any job so trump isn't entirely wrong on that front but soo many of them are soo deep unqualified on any other level.

Yeah physically being in space doesn't matter. Otherwise "ballast Bill" would be doing better. (The current head of NASA went once because a few months before trying to send a teacher to space, they sent him as a congressman to space. The astronauts on the mission gave him that nickname)

But still, certainly not a negative that the guy set to lead NASA has done this:

Yeah, certainly not a negative.

One less thing to spend my next four years worried about. :(

Considering how some of these picks have gone, it's a surprise to see a good one.

I daresay there was a 1 in 4 chance we got a flat earther instead.

I guess the current NASA administrator is just going to leave Isaacman a mess.

Announced that Artemis 2 will fly with humans with its current heatshield despite the design flaws.

This tweet is from a former NASA astronaut.
