Does PS5 have any games?

Extension of my talk with Kitler.

We are 4 years into the gen and it feels like there's less of a need than ever to own the current gen console.

You can find a bajillion youtube videos about it lacking games and this gen sucking

So what's your take? PS4 had this type of talk early on but I remember it stopping once bloodborne released. Is PS5 just missing an exclusive killer app?

These days i play playstation not ps5.  My entire library of ps4 games can still be played which was the true killer of "exclusives".   and to be honest i think next gen is going to be even more pronounced.   I'm basically assuming the rumors of ps6 having a console and a handheld formfactor are true.  Makes sense to me and i like it tbh. I could play on either formfactor or get both. 

I think this gen has been great.  Greatest ever maybe.   I don't reallycare about the lack of ps5 exclusives (but i do loath the games released on steam).  I wish sony did their own pc store instead.   I just like that i kept all my games and thing load fast.   Not so sure i'll get a ps6 right away but i'm happy with playstation.

I can see the argument that it is switching to a platform, but has anything really changed outside of games taking longer to make? Every system besides PS4 supported backwards compatibility and a ps6 portable would still be advertised as a ps6 portable, not a psp3.

Strong disagree about this being a good gen. It feels like this gen has been pretty binary with people either loving it or thinking it sucks and it's not too hard to tell where I am   Small indies are still doing pretty good but it feels like the whole industry just grinded to a halt around 2021. Absolutely no clue what could have caused that   but almost all the fun I've had this gen was early in the gen.

what are you talking about every system was BC except PS4. 

only a few ps3s were BC and you needed to buy the expensive version that left the market early.

Xbox One had no BC at first,.. it was added almost 2 years into the gen.

Nintendo has been hit or miss on the matter. 

it used to be one of the "selling points" of being a PC gamer and now it's not a bonus but an expectation of the console platforms. 


if I only played AAA games maybe this is a bad gen.  i play whatever i want and there has been a lot of great stuff to play that isn't AAAA.   stray.  humanity.  returnal.  R&C.  sackboy.  astro.  kena. sea of stars.  animal well.  cult of lamb.  talos principle 2.  it takes 2.  TMNT.

..and as you play more Xbox than ps it's partly you are on the wrong platform.  sony's first party has been better than MS,.. MS is now on ps, but mostly via partners Sony has delivered a ton of games this Gen: stellar blade, ronin, final fantasy, forspoken, ect.

in terms of Sony First Party. This gen has sucked dog. Even though there have been some bangers. Most though still on PS4 too.  In terms of overall games. Its been great, imo.

that line right there is what i think is souring soo many gamers opinion.

so what that GoW:R and H:FW were also on ps4!?!   why do so many gamers discount releases like those??   i'm quite tired of the "True ps5 exclusives" list coming up with practically nothing just because the games are cross gen.   personally i think that's a great thing not a thing to be pissed off out.   i'm certainly going to enjoy being able to keep playing games on my ps5 even if i don't buy  a ps6 day-1 and i cannot fathom why gamers are rooting against that.

Yeah I don't like it as an argument against first party.  But, you know gamers would have still been pissed if Sony just dropped PS4 sooner.  Most of the time you can never win.

to be honest i don't really buy that answer.

development budgets ballooning into the half billions with timelines now measured in decades so that we can get graphical improvements that require digital foundry to show everything at 4x zoom to be noticed is what's holding the generation back.

i dunno, maybe AI is the solution but right now the problem isn't hardware limitations.  it's time/cost to develop.
