VHS player came in yesterday. Been converting a bunch of VHS tapes to digital versions for a few family members.

My sister gave me some old TV series that only had like 6 episodes on VHS.

Would like to have it set up really nicely for her.

1.) Need to downscale the videos - the recording comes out at 1080p, even though VHS is limited to much lower resolution... Will correct the resolution first, maybe I'll try upscaling it with Video2x afterwards.

2.) Need to fix the audio, when I was recording or something, there is a persistent buzzing sound. I tried Audacity to remove the buzzing sound, and I think I did an okay job. And hopefully didn't take out other good sounds.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mains_hum I saw some reference to this. But it wasn't sticking out the way it sounded like it was supposed to on the chart.

3.) Generate subtitles from the fixed audio.

I'd be willing to digitize it for you.

But I'm sure you wouldn't feel comfortable sending it?

If you have a VHS-C adapter, that would be needed. Otherwise they're like $25 on Amazon.

I had streaming between 3 different households tonight. In-laws were watching a TV show, my brother was watching a movie, and wifey was watching her movie.

Was neat that it was possible with our internet and everything.

I really enjoy the physical media release pace.

Yesterday Dandadan was announced.
Today, a Lilo and Stitch 4k was announced.

Next week, there will be probably be some Warner Archive announcements, probably won't be anything for me. But it's a lot of fun.

One thing that bugs me about Plex/the media databases that it gets access to, is that TV shows tend to get labelled with tons of genres.

Some of the genre labels are kind of weird in the first place. Like some anime aren't labelled as anime, and Breaking Bad is labelled as a western.

Some shows are labelled with 10+ genres. Avatar The Last Airbender is labelled as Action, Adventure, Animation, Family, Fantasy, Mystery, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Drama, Comedy, Children, Martial Arts.

And I'm not saying these labels don't make some kind of sense. But I feel like it devalues like the Sci-Fi & Fantasy label, as well as the Mystery label. Because I don't think you really watch Avatar for the mystery. (And why is there a combined Sci-fi and fantasy label - when separate ones exist for both?)

You can, but it's a lot of labels to go through.

Supernatural is going to be a lot of work.

58 blu-ray discs.

And it seems like the episodes aren't separated. So I'll have to separate each of the episodes.

Honestly I'm feeling a little burnt out with everything I've gotten this month.

Buying more than usual, or just stuff you care less about?

Bought more than usual. These big sets can be kind of exhausting.

I probably normally get like 30-40 discs in a month. Some TV series will be ~20-25 by themselves.

This month has been more like 100+.
58 with Supernatural. I've gotten like 6 anime seasons of different shows, and like 15 movies.

I have fun with the smaller sets. But it's a pain juggling the bigger sets.

Warner Archive hasn't released a lot of things that I love, but weirdly I still feel a lot of love for what they do.

The discs are manufactured on demand, yet they're pressed discs - which often isn't the case for MOD releases.

They do a great job with the releases, and they don't charge as much as I feel like some other distributors charge.  Even compared to Warner Home Video, same company - The Looney Tunes sets from WHV are $10 more for comparable sets.  (And a few of them have been out of print - so they have costed $200 until a couple weeks from now)
