Gruv, which is Universal Studios physical media store has this funny peculiarity where it doesn't recheck prices after stuff is added to your cart.

I just took advantage of a sale price that I added on Cyber Monday.

So Im on the blu-ray.com forum. It's like the ResetEra of physical media. :P except I don't think it has any kind of competition.

Anyway, they've been talking about the Seinfeld 4k released, and there's been a few things that people have been taking as evidence of AI, only for someone else to point out the issue existed on the DVD years ago.

A little funny. People are so nervous to see bad AI upscaling, and they're so sure they see it.

Plex plays videos itself. Super neat though. I love VLC media player.

I've used AI to generate subtitles.

I almost didn't install vlc on my new laptop. All the google results were about it being banned because of chinese security concerns. (just an India thing I guess and the newer version doesn't have that exploit)

This seems to be just taking the final step from what they started last year:

A lot of people thought they were stopping all Blu-ray disc manufacturing, but they are still making discs for movies/games.

Yeah, just an end of an era though.

I wonder if we'll ever get format wars again. Sony finally won one with bluray.

Video2x seems to be getting a lot of work put into it. Completely redoing the documentation, and the code.

There were a lot of journalists who were taking this as the literal end of Sony making any blu-rays. :-P

Sony had to clarify that this had no impact on movies or games.

I've never burned a bluray but I burned dvds all the time. I made a lot of movies when I was a kid.

I wonder if it was worth it after all. I mean due to games bluerays still sold a lot, obviously digital took a huge chunk of that market. But blueray is still chugging along.

For the consumer it was definitely better than that HD DVD of whatever.

The House MD blu-ray release, doesn't use the original US opening theme.

Instead it uses this one:

Would be neat, if you could basically take these two audio files, and have a batch replacement to replace the song on all episodes.

My budgeting has been going pretty well. I've spent like half of what I did last year so far.

It's been a little tricky. I will feel like I haven't gotten anything new in a while, and it'll have only been like a week. I've basically blown February's budget already.

Got the second season of an anime.
Got Simpsons season 5-8 coming in 2 weeks. Some of the seasons seem like they're getting a bit harder to get. My plan is to get up to season like 15 at some point.

Doesn't look perfect. I'll need to study it more.
