Boeing launched humans to space, now they are "not stuck"

It keeps getting worse so I figured I'd make a thread.

Boeing's Starliner crew flight test will stay docked to the ISS for at least "a couple of weeks" longer, officials say, to complete testing in New Mexico of the spacecraft's thruster system before it's returned to Earth.

Boeing and NASA keep saying they are "not stuck" because they could come down if it was an emergency. But it's hard to tell how confident they are in the return. It just keeps getting delayed and delayed to try to figure out why things aren't working.

It makes sense in part, the broken stuff can't be investigated after it lands, but it must be serious for them to be doing it like this.
