I'm curious how well Hellblade 2 does, but considering its day 1 gamepass and its still a pretty niche game I doubt it will do well enough.  So i do fear that Ninja Theory might be in trouble. 

Double Fine is a meh studio, imo.  The people there and Tim are really passionate about their work, but I feel like they have more of a cult following than anything.  I don't believe Psychonauts 2 was a raging success commercially.

i'm sure the "player count" will be fine.     it's the amount of revenue generated that will be terrible.    i'm sure ~95% of players will be those that already have a gamepass subscription.    ...so if MS has decided that the revenue generated from the gamepass subscription is not enough then the game is a failure.

....which really sucks because it wasn't ninja theory that made the "day 1 gamepass" decision but it's absolutely ninja theory that will be punished for the decision.

The strategy continues to shift and change. MS wants different things from Xbox than Xbox wants from Xbox. What's said today won't be true tomorrow. Feels a power struggle is happening & has been happening since February's multiplatform strategy became official.
