Most amazing thing ever. Rewatched and it definitely soft landed and then tipped over.

Reuse would be hard with this ship, but a human in a space suit could have survived. Largest man made object to ever reenter and we got live footage all the way down.

Elon's decision to use steel for the rocket sure seems to have paid off. Just like methane, I think everyone is going to go that direction. Long term reuse is the goal so melting steel isn't good enough, but that's an incredibly amount of extra safety. Starship had a bunch of missing tiles and the flap hinges got eaten by plasma, yet it survived.
