A procedural puzzle game with player set rules?

I thought about this while playing a monster's expedition and then again with Talos Principle 2.

These types of puzzle games are built off the interactions between different objects, like lasers and boxes, and their puzzles are all built around discovering the applications of these interactions.

It would be pretty simple to give players a grid of sorts where they can simply add objects and define how their interactions work. Then the game could calculate all possible applications of these interactions and build a puzzle to demonstrate each one. Sort them by complexity and group similar concepts together and wabam, you've got a proper puzzle game.

Grids are simple for the player. Was not saying it'd be simple as the developer.

@kitler53 you're really into puzzle games so do you have any actual feedback on this concept? Many of these devs already have automated systems to help during development, so what's the problem with packaging that into something user friendly ala Little Big Planet?
