It's for me when the kids take the TV, and I want to play PlayStation.

what Pi said.

i went the more expensive route last gen,.. i bought 2 ps4's and another tv. this is a far more cost effective route to how to play video games while having a family.   i realize this isn't for everyone but for some people this is really really good.

Why not just put remote play on tv? I thought Sony used to support that.

what would that solve?!  the TV is in use.

so 2 things,...
1. when i bought a second ps4 all this remote play stuff wasn't there.   buying a second ps4 was the only option.  they later added it to vita but is wasn't that great of an experience because vita didn't have all the button the dualshock did so the had to map some of them to the touch screens.   it wasn't terrible but it wasn't good either.

2. i could right now without buying a playstation portable (Q) do the same thing with a dualsense and an Ipad. (which btw,.. is what i do today).   it's a better experience than it was on vita for sure but it's still a bit rough.  I have to sit at a kitchen table to have a flat surface to put the Ipad on and even then it's not at an ideal angle.   I get a lot of glare.  the games play well because i use a dualsense but the screen being seperate from the controller just doesn't give a ton of flexiblity.

I'm very unlikely to buy a playstation portable (Q) but its pretty easy to see how that experience would be better than the current alternatives.    I'd be far more likely to buy it if i could play directly from the cloud and if at least the smaller games could be played without any internet required.   i bought a steam deck to have games on the go but i'd much much much rather have a playstation steam deck.  i have basically no steam games and like 1000 games on playstation.   i don't care about exclusives and i don't even care if every game couldn't be played.   i just sometimes have need to play outside my house like when i spend a week at my mother-in-laws at christmas and want a convenient way to play my games.

I have remote play on my ipad that I could use, but I could see myself using the PS Portal quite a bit.  My ps5 is in my office and i'm usually in there all day so I would use it to play games in the living room or in my room.  Especially don't want to have to move my ps5 every time.

You only have one tv kitler?

If you're wanting to be social and stay in the same room as the other people using the tv, then that's an even smaller market.

Yeah many people have more than one TV.

I'm sure you can remote play on your phone?  No need for this...

My phone doesn't have an 8" screen, and the controller attachment is kind of awkward.

And my son keeps taking my phone.

ipad is better than phone so i kind of agree.

...but as a guy that remote plays on the ipad a few times a year i can tell you that this looks to be a much better experience.   i don't remote play enough to justify this but if i did i would want one.   this is the deluxe way to remote play for sure.

I have it on preorder just in case.  i do think I will use it quite a bit, but just depends on if more contract work comes up if I keep it for sure.
