Some thoughts here:

1.) They seem to be dropping the very long subtitle (Legend of the Seven Stars).
2.) They changed Toadstool to Peach, makes sense.

So I'm curious about a few changes.

The original game has it so that the X button is items, Y button is for special attacks, A is for normal attacks.

This was built into the UI, and even into a battle:
Super Mario RPG | Bowyer

But they seem to have changed that, unless there are some UI options (which seems unlikely). So it seems like this will change.

They're keeping the chained up donkey kong, I saw some people were concerned about that.

I was wrong about the gauge.  I'm not entirely sure what it does. It seems to build up when you hit the enemy or when you get hit. Not something that was in the original. First thought was that it was like a reverse health gauge, but I rewatched the video, and it doesn't actually do that.

Visually looks great. Kind of has a chibi type of art style, not the biggest fan. I preferred the older look, but overall that's fine.

Story wise and world wise, looks like an incredibly faithful remake. I'm seeing many of the big locations/enemies in the trailer.

She did the original soundtrack, we're in really good hands.   ;D

What's Mallow and Geno? Were they one off characters for this game?

Yes.

Square Enix actually made the game, back when they were GOATs.
Lots of enemies, locations, characters that were created for this game, that never showed up again.

Geno is kind of a cult classic....

I'm not entirely sure where these two scenes are coming from. If they're new outright or if they took some liberties with the old ones.

I will also throw out that it looks like they improved the platforming.

That was the one thing in the original that felt serviceable, but not particularly great

I'm not the biggest fan of the art style, but overall it probably plays the best for Switch hardware.

It actually looks pleasant, unlike some of the Pokemon graphics...

There were a couple that had backgrounds.

Using the Star Egg in Super Mario RPG. (Footage recorded by me in a SNES emulator.)

But for the vast majority, the maps were visually just floating on blue or black backgrounds.

It was probably just a budget limitation, but I liked the simplicity.

The art style keeps growing on me.

I don't think I've ever been this excited for a game.

I'm ready to annoy all of you with my Super Mario RPG love for the months to come.

Nintendo better not mess this up.

On a related note, seems like it's doing pretty well. It has fewer views than Super Mario Bros Wonder, but it seems to be second to that from the direct. (And I'm sure Super Mario Bros Wonder will do absurdly well in ways that don't even make sense.)

Mario is hot right now, this should do great. Hopefully you get a proper sequel in a few years.

So ya'll are probably wondering what makes this game special?

Easiest thing, is it arguably has a great soundtrack (tastes vary)

This song is the most famous:

The soundtrack is dripping with atmosphere!!!

It's this amazing culmination of Mario, but not Mario. A lot of familiar characters are here, and so many that are no where else. It feels like this alternative dimension of Mario no one else got to see.

There's the mushroom kingdom, all the familiar toads and the chancellor, familiar enemies like goombas. But you also have so many 1 off enemies that never appeared in any other game. You also have entire towns and locations that never appeared anywhere else.

It has this neat spin on turn based RPGs, with timed hits, where if you time your hits correctly, it will do more damage or be more defensive. It's a more involved turn based system, you can't turn on a speed run and fast forward through battles the way that you can in most turn based games.

The story is crazy.
A few examples early game:

This game also has tons of little mini game stuff.
There are a few puzzles to solve, a few riddles, stuff like that.

Legend

First song is kinda fun. Didn't like it at first but it was better the third time.

Second song didn't get better.
