New plan is to just store the entire ship as a mesh. It's less efficient for rendering and memory but it makes native raytracing possible.

Will need a custom compression method though otherwise it'll be a few terabytes too

The ship itself has ~10 million nodes where each node is around 9 feet in diameter. So each node still needs a lot of data unless it's just empty space.

I'm pretty confident Hapax will be the largest game set inside a pre-built building. The alien space ship is almost the size of skyrim if you spread out all the floors

It's stupid but I really wanted to build the game around "targeted exploration" not random exploration. It's like how a real archeologist does their research and only excavates where they expect to find something
