secondly,.. huge AAA games are the ones least likely to make it to the system.   just like huge AAA games skip switch huge AAA games would skip a sony handheld too except via streaming (just like on switch).   I get that people love huge AAA games but that's like 5% of the games on psn.   the better fit for handhelds on the go would be found here:

tunic.  cult of  lamb.  sifu.  inscryption.  cursed golf.  ect.  switch is the king of "indies" right now but it used to be vita.   indies supported the crud out of vita and was the reason the system was soo awesome.   and these days tech is a lot more easy to cross port than it was on ps3/vita.

but like i said,.. steam deck has a laughably shame % of their games that can run on steam deck and people love the system.   you are just confirming right here right now the double standard sony will be held to when it comes to vita...

Porting to a new Sony handheld would be easier than porting to the original vita, but what has changed if you believe vita already had great indie support? Why would a new traditional handheld from Sony succeed when their last handheld was a massive failure?

Vita launch in the PS3 generation at the absolute low point of Sony's popularity.

digital game purchasing has gone from barely existent to the leading form of purchases.

Nintendo and steam deck changed customer expectations on how big a handheld is allowed to be.

mobile gaming lost it's cool factor.

the underlining tech powering devices is massively more unified compared to putting a game on the cell and then trying to port.

game engines like unreal have made scalability to multiple devices central to their platform.

...and Vita wasn't the massive failure people make it out to be.  PS3 was a much bigger failure despite higher sales.  Vita wasn't a success but when the measure is profits Vita was closure to a wash then a failure.

a Vita 2 that sells at cost/profit can be a success for Sony even if it only sells 10 million.  just don't view it as a stand alone platform,.. it's not.  FFS,.. steam deck is raved about and it only got to 1 million units this holiday.
