What success though?  It's been losing Nintendo money for years, hell the 3DS is the reason why Nintendo lost money for the first time in 100 years.  It also failed to do what the previous handhelds used to do and stop their consoles from bleeding money.  Personally, I consider it as successful as the n64.  If you wanna call it a "success" then the 3DS is a success.  I personally don't.

I'd call it a success because 50 million is a good number and its had some excellent games released on it, which have sold well.

Like I said, if you wanna call it a success then it is.  I don't :P.  Though their software are very successful on it.

Cute Pikachu

its a success through software(52 million on less than 9 million userbase is pretty fantastic around a 6 game attach rate)
now obviously its a sales wise failure but will continue to have the highest rated games until batman, bloodbourne, and witcher come

3DS?
An attach rate of ~6 isn't impressive honestly after more than two years on the market, especially for such a niche console which should have a higher attach rate than normal (see XBox).
PS4 had an attach rate of 4.5 after only its first year. Should definitely be at 7-8 after this year.

Let's keep the nintendo doom talk in the nintendo doom thread.
