Seems like there's some calling it one of the best games ever but overall the level of acclaim isn't quite the same as the original. Still, obviously these are amazing reviews.
Edit: some people genuinely don't really like it for seemingly understandable reasons.

95 meta is ranks #44-65 all time. idk if its fully updated yet, this is usually behind. But TLOU2 is sitting at #46 for me right now, an extremely high 95.

Opencritic average is currently 94.78. So that's a low(ish) 95 at the moment. Meta does look to be a high 95 though and that's what we use for our bets. No bad reviews from here and an Edge 10/10 could give 96 the win.

Looks like reviews have settled down now, might be the early rush over. Opencritic just had two added, a 100 and 98. Average now 94.91, so safe in 95 now. 96 scores are #23 to #44 on the meta all time list currently (Best Video Games of All Time - Metacritic (https://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/score/metascore/all/all/filtered?sort=desc),) TLOU2 is at #41 now, so its low but not right at the bottom.
Already more perfect scores on meta than the original game which had 98 reviews.

I think its quite clear than Naughty Dog have not only matched the brilliance of the original but elevated the series to a whole new level. I can't wait to play it next weekend.

I was wondering why opencritic score didn't line up with what I calculated, turns out they only included "top critics" in the headline score. About 17 of the reviews aren't from top critics and they skew lower, seems to be similar stories for other top rated games. Lesser known sites tend to score lower on average.
So the opencritic score is actually only based on 68 reviews. Will calculate the actual score in a bit.
Another perfect score added to meta. Opencritic headline score is 95.81 from 67 reviews, so on both sites its a low-mid 96. I edited thread title to reflect actual number of reviews the Opencritic score is taken from.
Edge have given the game 9/10. Could drop it to 95 on meta when its added.

We also saw a 4/5 from New York Daily yesterday which is yet to be added to meta, so the 96 could well be in danger on meta with that and Edge still to add.

6.5/10 from Cultures Vultures added to both sites. Also a new 80 on meta, new 9/10 on Opencritic.

10/10 from Bazicenter will go on both sites. Opencritic average is 95.3333 with that, so still fairly close to 96. Probably won't settle there though.
95 from Forbes, 72 from Riot Pixels, 100 from Digital Fix. Riot Pixels are a classic low scorer for Sony games, they let God of War off with 100 but not this one. Now down to #52 on the all time list, definitely slipping. A few more low scores and it may actually fall to 94 on meta. The 72 won't go on Open, also there's a 95 from GameCrate which is on Open but not yet on meta.

The vocal hate is really stupid but I'm a-ok if it drops to 94. Anything in the 90s is incredible for a game and reviews are pretty low precision.
In brighter news, the user score is creeping upwards. initially levelled at 3.2 after the initial chaos and has now reached 4.2. Would be hilarious if it ended up being positive after all these bigots have been using it as "proof" people hate the game.

in the collective history of gaming:

really it is less because GTA V is in there 4 times. GTA VI is in there 2 times. Orange box is in there 2 times. Red Dead 2 is in there 2 times. Ect.
A consistent theme in these top games are they are either nintendo or multi-plat. i'm sorry but xbox/playstation exclusives are just at a disadvantage in this because there will always be some devastatingly low reviews thanks to the console wars. TLoU2 may deserve a 97 but there is not a snowballs chance in hell it will get it.

Its such a weird pattern of post release reviews, its like they're being influenced by all the hate like all the streamers playing the game have been. They've pretty much all been lower than average scores since the game released, I don't think I've ever seen anything like this.
