What positions are open? If ND is still years away from release and doesn't have most devs working on a single player game, ouch.

I loved God of War Ascension's mp and TLOU mp but I need a good campaign! If ND has their "Apex Legends" moment that'd be cool for them but suck for me.

Looks like lots of temporary positions, so maybe not too far off.

I don't remember ever seeing this

God of War Dev Artist Allegedly Shows Canceled Sci-fi IP | Shacknews

Quote
The images, first spotted by nerdleaks, are supposedly from Erik San Juan, a concept artist a Sony Santa Monica where he did character modeling and visual development for Kinetica and many of the God of War Games on PS2 and PS3. His resume says he "Led the Concept Art incubation team for 2 years and later the Character Concept Art team while in full production. Provided 2D/3D concept art and models for a new PS4 IP in development which was later cancelled." The art apparently is no longer on his site, but has been backed up on Imgur.

According to a URL in one of the images, the project was supposedly codenamed Darkside. The art has a distinct feel of James Cameron's Avatar, showing humans on an alien planet populated by fantastic beasts and alien races. Some characters had names (August, Donovan and Nighthorse), and there is a variety art showing nefarious creatures that could have been enemies or just dangerous indigenous life. There is even a massive sea beast that dwarfs an underwater vehicle.
Spoiler for Concept Art:

Would have been something different if Sony Santa Monica ended up making that.

Interesting concept. It seems weird wild life was a focus, would have been very cool tbh. Shame it never came to life.

I first saw this pics like a year ago.

They look amazing, but they actually made me feel better about the game being canned. GOW ps4 scratched that itch for me.

are we expecting anything in particular from this?

i expect nothing much out of the Jim one cause he's being interviewed all the time.

jade could be interesting,.. we know really nothing about her new studio or game.  I could see some gossip being dropped.

I'm not expecting anything.

And at most I'm hoping for some vague PR about the future.

Jade is supposed to talk about the studio.

It's by far the strongest that we've ever had for any of our consoles, and I can't wait to see these games starting drop one after another. Horizon, God of War, GT7... I think that is ultimately what defines us.

I would also like to see a world where the games that we make at PlayStation can be enjoyed by many tens of millions of people. Perhaps hundreds of millions of people. Right now success with the current console model, a really great PlayStation hit you're talking ten or 20 million people being able to play that game.

We're talking about games stacking up against music, we're talking about games stacking up against movies. Music and movies, they can be enjoyed by almost limitless audiences. And I think some of the art that our studios are making is some of the finest entertainment that has been made anywhere in the world. And to kind-of gate the audience for the wonderful art, wonderful entertainment that our studios are making... to gate the audience for that at 20 or 30 million, frustrates me. I would love to see a world where hundreds of millions of people can enjoy those games.

The two big points for me in the interview:

1.) He suggested that God of War would be releasing early next year. Which was the hope.
2.) While it's not a surprise, he echoed Sony's ambition for wanting to expand their markets.

It doesn't mean a whole lot, but I think we are going to start to see Sony accelerate PS Now. I think that's really the only way they can get the kind of growth he's talking about here.

It's a good sounding quote but isn't this incredibly unrealistic?

Of course songs and movies are enjoyed by hundreds of millions of people, they're relatively short and easy to consume. I think tv shows like game of thrones are a more apt comparison (premium fee and large time investment) and those seem to stay well below 100 million viewers.

Games will only hit those massive sales numbers by dumbing them down or increasing the amount of people with internet. I think Starlink will do far more to grow the video game industry imo.

Jim Ryan is being consistent here from my own chats with him. He wants PlayStation IP to be at Pokemon (or honestly even Squid Game) levels of popularity and acceptance.
I think this is probably a better way to interpret what he was saying.

Pokemon is huge all around. Several anime, toys, and card games.
The TV initiative could be a way of going about that.

But still, Pokemon is loved by all ages.
