the only think i hope for is ps5 has a better patching system.  back when i played destiny patches were every few weeks.  i had to keep a minimum 80 Gb free in order to download the 1 gb patches in order to keep playing.    annoyed the crud out of me.
It does.

It was mentioned in the Cerny talk.

idk if that's just conversion or whether this 10% free space thing is legit.
It is.  :P

SSDs have "overpovisioning" for a few reasons.

Part of it has to do with the way that SSDs write data. Data is written on a higher level than reading. So if you want to make a change to a file, you have to make a copy of the file with the new changes in a new spot.

Imagine when you write, you have to fill an entire notebook.

You have a notebook already with a few pages written in.

In order to update that notebook, you need to start a new notebook, copy the old info and the new changes in one go, and then wipe the old notebook.

So in order to work you need to have a notebook of space available.
