Fallout 76's physics apparently tied to framerate, can walk faster by looking at the ground | ResetEra

Apparently might have been the case for Fallout 4 too (same engine after all), but this is more problematic for a multiplayer game...

Is that intentional? Wouldn't be surprising if not, Bethesda are bethesda.

I don't understand how this continues to be a problem for devs. It's really easy to do if you start development with it in mind. Every frame the game will run something like player_position+=velocity and to fix it you just need player_position+=velocity/framerate. Fixing a legacy engine could take a huge amount of work though but it can't be put off forever.

Also I assume/hope the actual physics engine isn't tied to the game's framerate. That'd be really weird. Walking speed should be a separate system from that.

How is this possible  :o
Well it probably replaces almost every file instead of only patching changes. Maybe it's a bug within the patch  ;)

The patch has a bug that deletes the whole game and reinstalls a new version.

(Probably).
