Looks okay, but why is it standing?

Amazon Echo competition!

Can be laying down.  But it looks fairly big.  As deep as it is wide.

Don't think that thing would fit on my TV table.

This generation has to be the weirdest/worst so far in terms of reveals. PS5 was formally announced in an article and Xbox has trickled the news out over such a long period. If we don't get any more Xbox Series X info until next year, this was an odd night.

Quote
Xbox Series X will be our fastest, most powerful console ever and set a new bar for performance, speed and compatibility, allowing you to bring your gaming legacy, thousands of games from three generations and more forward with you. Its industrial design enables us to deliver four times the processing power of Xbox One X in the most quiet and efficient way, something that is critically important in delivering truly immersive gameplay. We also designed Xbox Series X to support both vertical and horizontal orientation. It's bold and unique, very much like our fans around the world and the team of collaborators and innovators who built it.

Alongside Xbox Series X, we also unveiled the new Xbox Wireless Controller. Its size and shape have been refined to accommodate an even wider range of people, and it also features a new Share button to make capturing screenshots and game clips simple and an advanced d-pad derived from the Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller. The new Xbox Wireless Controller will be compatible with Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs, and will be included with every Xbox Series X.

From a technical standpoint, this will manifest as world-class visuals in 4K at 60FPS, with possibility of up to 120FPS, including support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and 8K capability. Powered by our custom-designed processor leveraging the latest Zen 2 and next generation RDNA architecture from our partners at AMD, Xbox Series X will deliver hardware accelerated ray tracing and a new level of performance never before seen in a console.  Additionally, our patented Variable Rate Shading (VRS) technology will allow developers to get even more out of the Xbox Series X GPU and our next-generation SSD will virtually eliminate load times and bring players into their gaming worlds faster than ever before.

We are minimizing latency by leveraging technology such as Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and giving developers new functionality like Dynamic Latency Input (DLI) to make Xbox Series X the most responsive console ever.  Xbox Series X is also designed for a future in the cloud, with unique capabilities built into the hardware and software to make it as easy as possible to bring great games to both console and elsewhere. Xbox Series X will deliver a level of fidelity and immersion unlike anything that's been achieved in previous console generations.

They should have cut the article down to just the abbreviations, VRR RDNA VRS ALLM DLI.... buzzwords, wohoo. ;D

Edit: Also are we back to a singular console again?

I don't know about your edit. Series X sure sounds like they could have multiple versions but the article talks about this being the name of this singular piece of hardware.

My own edt:

This was a very bad showing, looking around online.

They only showed three things (box, name, hellblade 2) and 2 of the 3 are having a poor reception. There is essentially nothing to talk about so for months it'll just be jokes mocking it.

Lol resetera is going for xbox se. X but reddit has coined it xblock.

In a shelf on its side, it takes up the space of 3 stacked ps4 pros.

I mean people are positive about Hellblade at least, but going off the time between announcement and release of the first game, that could be years off.

But I agree, that this as well as the PS5 game announcement felt kinda weird and just unnecessary. The PS5 game in particular to me felt like "Really, this is the first game you want to announce for your next gen hardware and this is how you want to announce it?"

Cause at least with Hellblade, even though it was just "in engine", you could tell that it will be next gen. Nothing about the Godfall showing screamed that, which to me doesn't make for a good first game to show for the PS5 (though they didn't really show the game anyways).

well,..

the look of the console is terrible but it truely delivers the "vision" of being a box so there is that.  i'll reserve judgement until the ps5 is actually released but as terrible as the series X looks i'm not sure it looks worse than the ps5 development kit.

the marketing of "power your dreams" already shows a terrible marketing strategy imo.   reading that press release with 4k 120 fps, VRR, SSD, ALLM, DLI, RDNA, ect..  for fudgy shame,.. consoles are plug and play for those that don't want the hassel of computers for their gaming.  they make this feel like you need a phD to get this thing.

i never played the 1st hell blade so it is a bit hard to get really excited about this.  like all MS announcements I fully expect the gameplay to be miles behind the announcement trailer in terms of graphs.  but at face value it looked good.  but seriously,.. show some fudgy gameplay when you announce a new system.

Cause at least with Hellblade, even though it was just "in engine", you could tell that it will be next gen. Nothing about the Godfall showing screamed that, which to me doesn't make for a good first game to show for the PS5 (though they didn't really show the game anyways).
i agree,.. godfall didn't look great.  certainly not next gen.  but this is gearbox we are talking about.  boarderlands 3 looks like it could be on the ps3 with a better developer at the helm.

Short gameplay gif of Godfall. Doesn't really belong here, but I think this is a bit more flattering to the game than the reveal trailer.

Fan render from resetera from reddit.

Super terrible name.

Box is at least sleek even if it's really big.  But considering most all their games are coming to PC I have no interest.  Hopefully it does well though for those that want it.

darkknightkryta

I honestly never played the first Senua, but that trailer was cringey ASF.  That's as an outsider looking in.  Not sure that was a good idea?  The box itself is a bit WTF, but maybe they'll finally do what they should have done with the Xbox One and finally release a "PC".  Then it all makes sense.

It's fricken huge!
