The Wii U never existed!

Spoiler for Hidden:
Okay but it definitely didn't have joycons.

Spoiler for Hidden:
It had the superior Wii Motion Plus <img src="https://vizioneck.com/forum/Smileys/default/cool.gif" alt="8&#41;" title="Cool" class="smiley">

Anything related to those god dang stickers in Smash is hot garbage. Also unlocking of characters gets increasingly more frustrating the more characters you already have, at least for someone who's not that familiar with Smash. I imagine it's easier if you do it through the "story mode" (which up to the point that I've played had no story but whatever) but getting characters there also seems to take a lot longer, plus that mode forces you to interact with that stupid sticker system and I'm not even sure if you unlock all characters in there anyways.

Stickers looked like they'd suck so it's not surprising that they do suck.

Why couldn't they have just left trophies in and not added more grinding?  :'(

The spirits (I assume that's what you mean by stickers) is a decent system. The support spirits having some significant gameplay modifiers is cool.

Getting new characters is pretty slow with having to wait 10 mins to fight a new challenger, but I'm playing world of light mainly anyway so I don't mind.

Also Sheikh is by far my favourite and she's the third character you unlock in WOL so I'm gooood.

The spirits are the same unnecessarily overbloated gacha crud that Nintendo already did in XC2 last year. That entire spirit board mode (or whatever it's called, I'm playing in german, no clue about the english terms) is a complete travesty. Spirits only stay for a couple minutes, you only have one try to beat their challenge at a time and even if you win you aren't even guaranteed to get the spirit as you still need to win that shooting mini game. It's amazing they haven't actually implemented microtransaction into this, cause purely by design this screams "Hey, don't wanna wait so long? How about you give us a couple bucks".

The same goes for the character unlocks btw. fail a fight and you have to wait another several minutes until that character challenges you again.

I just don't find the spirit system engaging at all, most of them are pointless anyway and only exist to be collected so they can probably later on be turned into the couple spirits that are actually worthwile. All I see is tons of bloat in place of what could instead have been at least something resembling a story, cause as of now, I have seen nothing like that.

Was in my department common room for a few hours today and in that time I saw two people independently whack out Switches and play some Smash Bros. Madness.

I'll probably get a Nintendo Switch next year.

You should! Its already got a lot of great games. Although if you had a WiiU I'm not sure if the Switch is super high value yet. These are the games I have on Switch:

Super Mario Odyssey - full exclusive and absolutely brilliant
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom battle - full exclusive and a good fun xcom style game
Breath of the Wild - on WiiU but its the best game evaaaa
MK8D - enhanced version of WiiU game, its got some good new features like double items and of course its brilliant fun
Golf Story - wonderful indie full Switch exclusive, recommend this to everyone
Mario Tennis Aces - full exclusive but a bit meh
Octopath Traveller - full exclusive and a brilliant game for people who have the patience but its too tedious for me
Smash Bros Ultimate - full exclusive and awesome game, its got loads of new features and its as different as a smash game can be from past games
Pokemon Let's Go - full exclusive decent pokemon game, if you like pokemon you'll like this

Obviously I didn't have a WiiU so all of these are new for me and have made the Switch super worth it already. And of course I'm missing quite a few games. I reckon with Animal Crossing next year you'll have every reason to own a Switch you'll ever really get.

Only interested in Splatoon 2 out of those, and even then I'm not really one to play multiplayer games on my own.

Aw the bonus levels in super mario 3d land are pretty lame. Cool things to include sure, but they made me stop caring about 100%ing the game.
