Hitman 3 has taken No.1 in the UK boxed charts, with launch sales up 17% over its predecessor. The PS5 version of the game was by far the dominant edition, accounting for 49% of sales. The Xbox version accounted for 27%, while the PS4 version made up 25%.
Some new PS5 consoles were released in the market last week, which had a positive impact on a few titles. Spider-Man: Miles Morales is up 142%, jumping from No.12 to No.5, Demon's Souls re-enters the charts at No.35 with a 166% sales increase, and there were sales bumps for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (up 56% and driven by the PlayStation version) and Assassin's Creed Valhalla (up 7%, but with the PS5 version up 174%). In total, PS5 game sales increased 279% week-on-week.Impressive week for PS5. 17% bump for Hitman 3 isn't crazy considering Hitman 2 didn't debut that well (<15k). Using numbers on Era for Animal Crossing, looks like about 14k physical debut for Hitman.

Take a bit over 1 million off the PS5 number and you won't be far off.

People are going to compare this to the 3m sell through number for XB1 instead of the 3.9m shipment number for XB1, aren't they

I don't know where this 3.9mil number came from, I don't remember seeing it around the time.Take a bit over 1 million off the PS5 number and you won't be far off.

This is incredibly dumb, only based on games that appear in the top 30 retail sales charts.https://t.co/MK9py3u0TJ

I don't know where this 3.9mil number came from, I don't remember seeing it around the time.Apparently MS announced the 3m number and had 3.9m in their financial earnings.
So XB1 and PS4 were a lot closer than it seemed. And I guess XBS was about half a mil down on XB1 shipment numbers, which is about what I was expecting.
This is incredibly dumb, only based on games that appear in the top 30 retail sales charts.Aye.
Apparently MS announced the 3m number and had 3.9m in their financial earnings.Hm, not sure why the 3.9mil figure escaped my mind.
Microsoft's Q2: record $24.52 billion revenue and 3.9 million Xbox One sales - The Verge
Aye.
There was an Era thread, of course.
Hm, not sure why the 3.9mil figure escaped my mind.since covid started bascially all the consoles have been sold out. i don't know how long this will last but xbox will be a beneficiary of this and will continue to sell out for a long time.
PS4 launched with 4.5mil. XB1 launched strong just behind PS4 with 3.9mil due to selling out, but then early in 2014 demand fell away while PS4 stayed strong. This lead to the gap increasing to the more like 2:1 we see today.
This gen we have PS out in a stronger lead, with PS5 matching PS4's 4.5mil but XBS at ~3.4mil. However, demand for xbox is staying stronger this time round and they will continue to sell pretty much everything they ship, so they might maintain a closer gap.

It has now also overtaken PS4 launch week with about 4 weeks still to go. PS4 had a few elevated weeks after launch, but if PS5 keeps these numbers up it should actually be ahead of PS4 in Japan when you align for the global launch date. And that would be hilarious, pretty much all that doom posting and articles dunking on PS5 when it might actually be seeing growth. We'll see though, this could well just be a high week and it could plummet back down next week.I would love for people to be wrong.
Japan latest:i mean, correct me if i'm wrong but it's still 100% supply limited in all territories including japan right?Code: [Select]+-------+------------+------------+------------+------------+------------+-------------+

Switch is just unreal. PS5 though, that's pretty good. In fact if it was a 26k baseline each week and it maintained that all year then we'd be saying its doing a lot better than PS4.
