Moderation is at the sole judgment of the administration. These rules should be strictly followed, but moderation is not bound by them. You may be moderated for an action not discussed below, and alternatively you may break a rule and not be moderated. Every case is unique with specific circumstances.
1. Creating a new thread
A: Should you? First check if there are similar threads already posted, or if your thread idea would work as a post in an already created thread. When in doubt, always post it in an existing thread. Administration can create a new thread out of your post if necessary.
B: Location is important. Video game talk goes into gaming and off topic talk goes in off topic. Threads pertaining to the website itself go in VizionEck website. Because of the simplicity of following this rule, repeat breakers usually lose thread making privileges for a short period of time.
C: News VS Community. Both the gaming and off topic boards are divided into these groups. Since the meaning of these sections is abstract, moderation for posting in the wrong one is unlikely. In order to know which section to post your thread in, ask yourself "Is my thread's first post sharing new information?" If the answer is yes, then it goes in news. If it's no, then it goes in community.
D: Thread Titles. If it's in the news section, then give a clear and concise summary of the news. If it's in community, then you are free to name it as you wish. Rick-rolling and other humorous ways of making the thread title not match the thread content are generally not allowed.
E: All rules applying to posts also apply to threads.
2: Posts
A: Responsibility. Within reason, you are responsible for how the community reacts to your posts. If you cause someone to break a forum rule then you are also at fault. Moderations on your end are unlikely unless you're also breaking other rules.
B: Baiting. This rule covers the act of purposely trying to get other members to break the rules, regardless of if people fall for the bait. If people do take the bait, then you're also breaking rule A making your punishment more severe.
C: Personal insults. Do not insult or mock people. This includes forum members and non forum members. Celebrities and well known public figures however can be personally insulted, if they're not members of the forum. So if you watched a reality TV show the other night and want to say how a person on the show was crazy, stupid, a-hole, etc. then that's ok.
D: Trolling. Don't do it.
E: Privacy. You must respect the privacy of other members. If you find out something personal about a member that is not common knowledge, do not post it.
F: No Pirates. General discussions about piracy and its morality are ok, but do not link or assist other members in performing it. This applies to all content, not just games. If people have to pay to view the content, don't post the content. No magazine scans.
G: Keep it G. This forum is public. Anyone can come and view its pages. For a guest, the forum needs to be 100% G rated. This does not mean you are necessarily limited however. At the moment non G pictures posted in public are strictly against the rules, but this is being worked on. With text however, you are allowed to curse. The forum will automatically censor your bad word for guests and other members with this option enabled. Do not try to circumvent this system though.
The rules for posting also apply to all written content on the site.
