Does anyone know what kind of things are covered under the Paris agreement?
Research into renewable energy?
Higher standards?
Etc...?
I've been trying to read up on it, but so far no. What I'm getting out of it a every country set's their own goals, and there's no penalty for not making those goals. Hell China doesn't have to move the needle for the next 17 years.  It does seem like countries are jocking for position for supplying tech, like china for solar panels, and Germany for batteries. Germany also thinks that they'll become the leading supplier of electric cars, Which is horse shame, because they're pretty far behind american companies. And the cost of their cars are way to high to become the leader in anything.  Ford will have self driving electric cars, sold with out steering wheels in the next 4 years. Plus Tesla says hi with the first semi affordable all electric car hitting the road this year. America is still heading down the green path, and there isn't anything trump can do about it. It's going to happen, Trump is simply a bump in the road that companies and inventors are going to have to over come or wait out. It isn't the end of the world, or at least the world isn't anymore iced that it would have been if we stayed in.  As even if we meet all the goals of every country we would still still a 3C rise in global temps, well over the Paris agreements "well below 2C" goal.

Basically what Tacos said, it's very loose and countries don't face any penalty for not contributing. It's more of a gentleman's agreement.

Which is why it's so annoying and shaming that Trump left it, there's no benefit at all to leaving it but if you stay in you stay working with almost the entire world on progressing future energies and low carbon emitting forms of transport/ power generation etc.

He claims it's unfair on the US but all he's done is hindered US scientists and engineers wanting to work with the rest of the world. If he wants to focus on bringing jobs back with coal plants etc. then he could have still done that inside the PCA. It just seems like it's more of a statement of climate change denial

It's a political stunt to give his ignorant supporters the impression that he did something in their interest. The progress the US has made in reducing emissions will continue. The nation will do its part. Private industry will do its part. This is just Trump trying to get a devil's flute for doing nothing. Though I must say the reactions of people against Trump are ridiculously exaggerated in how this impacts the world's fight against climate change. You'd think one man just successfully signed our death warrant. The accord is little more than political symbolism itself. This whole thing really has no actual impact on the climate change fight.
