$219 for Xbox Series propriety 1TB ssd expansion

This really is the xbox 360 all over again.

that's too expensive for me to expand.  I thought my 500 Gb on ps4 would be to small but really it wasn't.  I can still have like 15 games downloaded at a time so expansion just wasn't worth it.  downloading new games is fast enough to not waste the money.

PS5 looks to be in the same ballpark.
On the bright side:
its for a drive that's 3x faster.
Prices might fall faster.

Although the really nice bit about the XSX option is they are swappable.

MS's drive is propriety and Sony is merely validating 3rd party products as viable for use in ps5.   MS's price won't drop.  Sony's will drop and also get larger and faster since it isn't propriety and that's what happens with free market products.

after how much shame vita got it really annoys me how much this is being shrugged off right now.

I hadn't fully realised that a large part of it protruded once stuck in. This is a legit memory card!!!!!!!!!

I wish the slot was on the front now.
