Polyphony makes lots of money though...

Shu said that 60 or 70% of all SIE games do not make a profit.

And over here is PD who basically made a profit before even releasing a full game. Their glorified demo paid for GT 5's development.

Wasn't that during the PS3 era? I would imagine all their big games apart from Death Stranding and Driveclub made profit.

He said in 2014.

I'm sure it's much better now.

Yep. But I wonder what Evolution could of done with the Gran Turismo franchise. They just seem more efficient at putting out a good product.

If it was either or then sure. We have no idea what happened with Evolution, they did have their game delayed by a year and still massively iced up the launch. No matter how fantastic Driveclub became, that's still a big failing. I think they were done a massive injustice by Sony, since I believe the mess around the PS+ version is what hurt the game the most, but its hard to say they'd do a better job than Polyphony.

If Evolution were better managed they could have been the #1 racing game studio, Driveclub was truly phenomenal.
Driveclub's launch was a disaster and it was delayed. I suspect that's Sony's fault trying to push the game to hard. Yet at PD they always delay their games for years and put out some bad Gran Turismos.

Yes I agree a lot of the fault in Driveclub lies with Sony, but I'm certain there was mismanagement at Evolution as well. They wouldn't agree to a release date if they think they couldn't make it, so something must have happened at the studio to cause the delay.

We'll never know what truly happened with Evolution that caused Sony to want to sell them, perhaps Driveclub made a loss and they thought they only needed one racing game studio. If that's the case then its really sad, Driveclub could have made a profit if not for the PS+ fiasco I think.

I mean, bad? I don't remember PD ever making a bad GT. Now, a GT that fails to meet expectations, sure. Evolution couldn't do what PD do because GT isn't about arcade racing, it's about realism.

Gran Turismo 5 was a massive step back for the series. A bad game, no. A bad Gran Turismos yes. Gran Turismo has always been about being a simulator as well as about modding and tuning. I'm sure the modding side was seriously downgraded in 5. You couldn't buy used cars in one of them, not sure which one. 5 again? Some aspects of the game stagnated and some areas should of improved. UI sucks. Give us damage. I think multiplayer is working ok with sport. Not played it for a while. I'm hoping gt7 comes back with a bang. Like, back on the throne of racing. The series is just so up and down I don't know what to expect.

I think evolution were capable of doing a driving simulator. I mean Driveclub was somewhere in the middle of simulator and arcade. So was WRC

That would work but what's the reason for Konami letting Sony develop their game?
not necessarily true.

bloodborne was developed by fromSoftware but studio japan also worked on that title.    this could be a similar situation.

..or it could just be a rumor and a wrong one at that.

I'm just asking why Konami are having Sony come in to make their game and effectively making Silent Hill a PS exclusive. Funds? Lack of inspiration?  Sony paying for exclusivity?
What's the reason. Either way, it could get me back into Silent Hil again.

Probably Sony paying.

if this senario is true,..

no money probably exchanged hand.  exclusivity in exchange from using sony's development resources.  it means konami get's access to developers with better expertise on the ps5. it also means they can avoid taxes on the exchange of money.  and if sony's commitment is feature based it konami can minimize the risk of the development cycle going too long.

sony gets an exclusive.  that means both something they can boast about but also a third party developer not working on xbox or switch.
