Honestly being able to speak English we're so lucky. I went to Singapore and Vietnam recently and everyone speaks english so well. Even road signs in vietnam are in english.

Yeah I'm glad English won over French as our lingua franca.

Sure makes it easier to travel.

I'm sure non conlangers think most conlangs sound this crazy and pointless.  ::)

I am nearly illiterate with my conlang from Hapax. I'm like a linguist that can tell you everything about it but I can't actually speak it without a translation book.

Decided to do a quick mini game jam and build my own Duolingo equivalent. Got the dictionary set up and two memory games, but I need to get some sort of score and progression system so I can keep things focused as I add more words.

I finished my duolingo clone the other day and it's working pretty well.

I wanted to avoid all English so I'm a bit limited on how the lessons work. Can't really do translation practice if there's nothing to translate from. Instead it's just pictures that I have to match with a word.

I know it's just me but it's really really fun to learn my language. I freeze up every time the app asks me to write a word, but I can recognize ~50 words now which is pretty dang awesome. Beforehand I could literally only recognize 1 word.

Very weird learning a written language without a way to speak it. It already feels odd and I'm excited to see what it's like when I get better. Grammar will be really interesting since I break a lot of human language rules. Will my brain adapt or will I stay as slow as I am now?

It's a bit slow since I have to make the lessons myself but I hope I can make quick progress. I'm so rusty with Japanese that I've probably already surpassed it. My dutch is very rusty too but I have a bit to go before I surpass that. Would be awesome if I eventually know Hapax's language even better than Spanish but that's a tall order. edt: duolingo says I learned 384 words in my best language so I guess that's my next goal.
