It's kind of weird being a part of movie collector groups.

There's a lot of people that like collecting slip covers (the covers that go over the movie cases).
There's a lot of people that like collecting steelbooks.
Some people have crazy collections of movies.

I saw a reddit post about a month ago where someone had 15,000 digital movies on their Vudu account. One of the comments pointed out that Netflix only had ~5,000.

That's not for me.

I think I own like 350 movies and then I have like 150 movies from my parents and another 100 from my in-laws.  There's a ton in there that I wouldn't really care to have. And I feel like I would struggle to find another 100 movies that I would want to buy.

I find it wild that people buy so much. (And I am pretty certain I buy way more than anyone else here)

I loved having a big collection of physical movies but I never cared about all those collector items. I'm just there for the disc.

I buy so few movies nowadays since prices have gone up and streaming makes me a lot more selective. Also feels like the quality of the average movie has gone down.

back when i collected movies i also used to rewatch movies.   with the huge supply of content i don't rewatch anything anymore.   ...expect for a few sitcoms like friends, seinfeld, arrested development,..

Like this Reddit post I just saw.

QuoteJust bought schindlers list on 4K. The top of the slip cover is slightly pushed in. Should I return it and get a replacement. I can't just send the slip back. You need to return the whole thing. Any advice

Madam Web is not bad in the ways I expected it to be bad. Really funny how lame it gets near the end.

Also finally saw American Fiction. Was good but a bit off in some ways. Would have been happy if it won the oscar. In fact this year was great for good oscar best films. So many are actually good, not just oscar bait good like Nomadland.

Rotten Tomatoes best 300 movies of all time

For some reason I can't get it to load right now. Web Archive version

But this is a weird list.

They have Lord of the Rings Two Towers at #40, and they have the other LOTR movies at 201 and 205. That's really weird because most of the time, the first and third movies are more well regarded than the second one critically or by random movie goers. And it's also weird that there's so much space between them.

I also really love How To Train Your Dragon, but I think I love it more than most and even I wouldn't quite put it in my top #15 movies of all time.

Zootopia and Inside Out are in the top #40.

Yeah whatever method they're using to adjust scores is really helping animated movies.

So I bought the Mad Max Anthology.

I can barely remember it but I think the only old mad max I've seen had like an oasis and drawings/paintings of people on its rock walls. Was odd.

I've never seen any of them. Someone was raving about it a few days ago, and all of them went on a hefty sale today. And I like the bundles where there's 3+ movies in a box.

Seemed like a fun way to leap into it.

mad max is amazing.

Fury road is insane. Should be watched with a good audiovideo system

No clue if I've seen the first one or not. I watched scooby doo from time to time but the live action movies are the only ones I can individually remember.

Not the worst. That fire stands out as being too high quality.
