Tesla bot update

Their walking is still average. The hardware and pace of improvement however are incredibly impressive. Less than 2 years to go from nothing to this.

All of its demos are controlled by humans, but the dexterity is pretty poor compared to a human. This demo making a sandwich is pretty impressive but also shows how much is lacking. It can't squeeze the bottle or pick certain things up without help, yet it has "industry leading dexterity." It can move its fingers sideways which I don't believe Tesla bot can. Might not be worth it though since it requires that big hydraulic cable and Tesla bot looks comparable in demos.


Meanwhile 1X is partially funded by OpenAI and has this robot. They plan to make one with actual hands and legs, but haven't released details.

It's actually crazy how advanced Tesla bot already is. I really wish they put a bit more focus on walking heel to toe so that it looked comparable to the best walking robots too.
