they should drop it entirely.  it's such a meaningless statement for what "optimized" means and if it isn't true for literally every game that supports xbox one than something is really wrong...

Probably because this.



They needed a way to show when a game has been ported to series x instead of just being playable with bc.

they already have that with the black banner that says "xbox one, xbox series x".   they don't really need a second thing that says,.. "...and the better hardware runs the game better".

It's not about the better hardware running games better. It's about them having horrible messaging and trying to say different things at different times.

Sometimes series x will play xbox one games in boost mode, and sometimes it will have native next gen ports. "Optimized for series x" is their way of saying "this game has been ported to series x and utilizes next gen hardware. It's not just the xbox one game running through backwards compatibility."
