Xbox Platform revenue increased $104 million or 14%, driven primarily by increased console revenue. We sold in 1.1 million consoles in the fourth quarter, as we drew down channel inventory, compared to 1.0 million consoles during the prior year.
The D&C Hardware segment was renamed Computing and Gaming Hardware in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2014.
So they didn't split the sales to hide the bad Xbox One numbers... just think about they announced 84m for 360 at E3... so the Xbox One sales from these 1.1m will be less than 800k.
Terrible... overshipped a lot in first quarter... the sales to consumers can be lower than 4.8m.
So how bad is this?
So how bad is this?
Think like it shipped less than (800k - What 360 shipped in June).
So confirmed below 5.9m cumulative shipment.
It is pretty bad.
They changed the division name.

What does this mean?
Ok numbers I guess.
What does this mean?
That means (at my first look) all the profit from mobile part that was together with gaming will be out now.... so you start to see this division having serious trouble to make profit.
Maybe they did it to the loss with game division not affect mobile... the focus of Microsoft.
That's pretty low. Not that surprising that they're hiding the One numbers. Sony did it too with Vita (and some Xbox fans made fun of them for it...irony).
Would computing and gaming hardware not include things like PC stuff and/or tablets?
Ok numbers I guess.
It is way better than 160k shipped by Wii U at the same period last year :D
It get bad comparing with Apr-Jun 360... less than 800k (- what 360 shipped in June) put XB1 at works Apr-Jun Xbox since 360 release.

I think tablets and pads are included yet... zune too... just they removed Mobile from division (smartphone, Nokia, Windows Phone, Android Royalties, etc).
Xbox One less than 800k. Ouch! Probs about 4.9m sell through then.
From the conference call... thanks @Amir0x
Now, a few comments on Xbox
It's important to have a core that's thriving and it's also important to place smart, bold bets on areas you can have impact. With that in mind, we made the decision to maximize value with a focus on gaming. This is the largest digital life category, and it's a place where our past successes, brand, and fanbase present us a great opportunity.
We'll invest in our core gaming and Xbox Live areas with a few toward mobile opportunities. Also know that we're well underway in evolving our culture to deliver on these ambitions. This means simplifying how we work, and modifying engineering processes. Empowering everyone to do more and achieve more in a mobile-first cloud-first world is something MS is qualified to do.

I have a feeling the next Xbox is gonna be a phone.

lol
They are really focusing on mobile/cloud.
that should be more than enough to keep their division alive for quite a bit longer... I mean it has to be doing better than their mobile platforms right?
That's really badfor the one. 360 did 300k in 10weeks. If it held steady the remaining weeks (and I don't see why it wouldn't) that means 420/680 split. And those numbers are skewed in favor for the one considering a new sku came out. That means MS needed to provide EVERY store with multiple units. I could see 360 beating the one out if they hadn't released the Kinectless version.

I guess they used retail Kinect SKU to bring Kinectless SKU... so that explain the low shipment even with a new model... or they (retail) didn't expected the Kinectless to sell that good and ordered 500k units only.

Hey, welcome max :). Yeah this really doesn't look too good for the xbox one. Next Q won't be much beter either with only really Destiny to boost sales. I think PS4 will be about 2m shipped, which is probs about triple the Xbox One, thats not good enough as fsr as MS are concerned.
Ohhhhhh I didn't even noticied.
Welcome
@Max King of the Wild
overall isn't the xone doing well in terms of launch and sales? I mean sure the PS4 is obviously doing better, but aren't both doing really well at this point considering "consoles are dead?"

PS4 is yet the fastest selling console... Wii is catching at slow pace so I don't expect that to change until 2015.
Xbox One was the second fastest but now is tracking below Wii and PS2... and 360 is catching at fast pace to MS be worried.
XB1: < 5.9m (I guess it is close to 5.5m).
360: 5.0m
360 shipped 1.0 million in next quarter in 2006... Xbox One needs to ship at least the same to hold the gap.
XB1 did have a amazing two months of sales... November and December... after that it did terrible except February and March (Titanfall).

Well it *is* not doing well, but it *was* doing well when it launched and shortly after. Sales then fell off a cliff.
