Me playing Hollow knight: I suck at video games.

Me playing Bloodborne: this is so easy.

I think 2D games are more difficult.

Hollow knight is awesome. I already have like 16 hours into it.

What I really dislike is the harder platforming sections, but thankfully they are far in between. Some bosses are difficult though

however the game feels like a 2D bloodborne. Which is something I honestly love

Jak feels like a very unique game.

Spoiler for images:
<br><img src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/8M1IcLXE7UM/hqdefault.jpg" alt="Jak and Daxter 2K Precursor Orb Part 1: Geyser Rock - YouTube" title=""{width}{height} class="bbc_img"><br><img src="https://i.pinimg.com/originals/2d/6c/9f/2d6c9f7116626a841a7c38692d4c7c18.png" alt="jak and daxter power cell - Google Search | Jak &amp; daxter, Adventure video&nbsp; game, Adventure" title=""{width}{height} class="bbc_img"><br>

The big collectibles are relics from some forgotten civilization.  You trade most of the orbs on the top for the "power cells" on the bottom.
The world has a lot of these energies called ecos, each one gives a different power up.

The first game starts off by a side character falling in to a dark eco pit, and transforms into a weasel. And much of the game is about getting past obstacles to find the guy who would be able to turn him back.

Spoiler for story ending spoilers:
<br>That guy ends up being bad.&nbsp; And you end up getting this foreshadowing that he might come back, but he never does.<br>

I don't know how to describe it, but the game has a fairly unique fantasy, yet kind of familiar world.

-----------------

Jak 2 is different.  Many of the elements in the first game are kept.  But it's a bit more like Mario and Grand Theft Auto met in the middle for a T rated game.

Still, there's some interesting story bits that come out of it.

Spoiler for beginning story spoiler:
<br>The game starts with Jak going to the future.<br><br>And he randomly gets tortured for 2 years.<br>

The world is interesting.  It's open world, but it's essentially made out of lots of linear channels.
Even the outer world is.  you can often see where a future mission will occur, but it's not accessible.

Spoiler for Hidden:
<br>Some of the barriers are doors that will get opened later.&nbsp; One of them will get blown up.<br>

I have only ever played part of the psp jak game so I'm not clicking any of those!

I did play superliminal though. Didn't think it was that good of a puzzle mechanic when the dev would post their progress, and they seem to have known that too. Super short and other mechanics were more common.

Enjoyed it in a meh way. Some elements were really clever. I think this is the first indie game I've played that I followed progress on so that was fun.

Daxter or Jak and Daxter: the lost frontier?

Are you going to play Jak 1-3?

Please do, so I'm not the only one.

Daxter.

I'll play them all eventually.

Oh superliminal has a defense force, fun  ::)

If I ever have a well known game with a defense force, I'll be the weirdo  defending people's right to critique it.

I love hollow knight...

So as a PS4 player, do I consider this a 2017 or 2018 game. Because when assessing my GOTY for each year, its definitely gonna be up there and can even win my GOTY for 2017. This is still without finishing it. Its such a GOOD game

It's definitely one of the best games of 2017 and that was a really stacked year.

I think for me it's 4th behind BOTW, SMO and HZD but those 3 games are all in my top 10 of all time.

I'm pretty confident in saying Hollow Knight is the second best indie game I've played, behind Hades.

I finished Jak 1 a long time ago.  It was "good".  I don't regret the $29.99 I spent on it.  Or was it 19.99?  I can't remember.

Finished Toren last night.  Did it in a sitting.  It was a weird game.  Not sure how much I spent on it.  I think I rate it $10 cad dollars.

Finished Remnants from the Ashes with my friends.  They put it down so I stopped playing it.  I liked it.  Not sure if I'd spend money on it, but it was ps+

Was thinking of picking up a JRPG to play.  I was thinking of Wild Arms.

Well it released on PS4 in 2018, so im not sure if I consider it a 2017 or 2018 game.

I think I like it more than horizon. Its fantastic, and it nails something important that horizon just doesn't, which is exploration.

Yeah horizon is awesome. But im just falling in love with this game.

It may be my favourite indie game, beating Bastion. Funny, that our favourite indie games are from the same dev. Super giant games are amazing.

Just finished hollow knight. Absolutely amazing game. Loved it. One of the best PS4 games.

If I consider it a 2017 game it might actually be my GOTY for that year. Its just awesome.

Guess I should try it!

Also need rain world. Both games are linked in my mind just cause they look similar when you squint.
