What gaming tropes do you dislike the most?

#1 for me is fake glitches. No dev can guarantee their game will be 100% glitch free, so it's even worse when these fake glitches are side by side with real glitches and you have no idea what to do. My worst experience with this was Metrico for PS Vita. My playthrough had a fair amount of bugs and the game had fake glitches at the end of every level. I reached the very last level and it had a super glitch. Couldn't progress. Menu was glitched too. Spent almost an hour trying to figure out how to progress. Accidentally quite the game because the menu's buttons were in the wrong spot. On reload the same glitch happened again but this time it continued after 30 seconds.

I know some of the glitches in the game were on purpose, but I honestly have no clue how much was intentional or not. Such a stupid trope that I hope dies.


As of lately I've also noticed a lot of games using programing as a game mechanic. I don't like this trope either, since it often feels forced.

Climb that tower/hack this stuff/etc. to be able to see this area on the map. Not because it sucks but because it is extremely overused imo. It's probably Ubisoft's favorite game mechanic

yeah it gets tedious real fast. it was only fairly fun in AC games, because after a while it got boring as well. its my least favorite part in Farcry games by far.
