It's crazy that this was just 12.5 hours of telescope time. The much lower quality Hubble images took weeks to capture.


The small looking background galaxies are so incredibly young in this picture. For them the big bang was just ~300 million years ago. I sure didn't have an emotional reaction during the presentation but I'm absolutely having one now.

JWST's ability to observe planet atmospheres is incredible. WASP-96 b is over 1 thousand light years away and yet we can understand so many details about it. We can directly check if exoplanets have oxygen in their atmospheres.

This is just for specific planets that happen to have the correct orbit. I'm also really looking forward to JWST directly imaging planets.
