Negative spin, bur to me this speaks to them continuing to lean very heavy, if not heavier on the GaaS route. Get in to the games with this subscription and then spend money on MT's etc.It's sucky, isn't it?
This move essentially guarantees that every single Microsoft game must have microtransactions and a freemium like financial model.
Basically they are merging everything and treating it like a single "game as a service." You continuously get free updates/expansions/new games that are designed to push whales and dolphins into spending more on microtransactions. Will probably make them lots of money but hopefully it doesn't catch on unless microtransactions become less common.
