I'm 20 minutes into A Silent Voice and I've already teared up twice. It's a hard watch and it does it so well.

I think the difference is that those reviews talk about how the port is unnecessary or things like that. Lots of skyward sword hd reviews trash the original. Also 93 to 81 is a lot bigger drop than 92 (3 games averaged) to 88.

Skyrim's drop between the PS3/360 version and the PS4/XBO is pretty comparable.

I feel like that's the norm. I feel like it's unusual if a remaster/port/remake does as well as the original critically. The Uncharted remaster bundle scored lower than any individual Uncharted game in the bundle.

I feel like that's also an issue that playing a game the second time around, usually isn't quite as fun/rewarding as the first time.

Demon's Souls Remake is a weird instance where the remake did notably better than the original.

It's not a Nintendo exclusive problem, but Skyward Sword is maybe the best proof of hype impacting a game's reviews. The game got a 93 on metacritic when it first released, yet the HD switch port got an 81. Most reviews talk about how the port is an improvement lol.

This is clear evidence that anything Nintendo is reviewed with bias and they just get high scores because they are Nintendo franchises

that all sounds pretty lazy and not a game of not at all worthy of its 96 rating.

i'll never understand how some games get put though the ringer with even the most minor of flaws being blow out of proportion while other games can have massive problems and get praised to high heaven.
Yeah it's a brutal lottery. Totk has so many weird minor flaws too. It has good stuff, I still think it's a 7/10, but it'll be interesting to see how it ages.

Well they certainly embraced uncanny movements! An Electric New Era for Atlas | Boston Dynamics

Looks way more mature than I expected; they've certainly been working on this a while. Really awesome looking design with an already iconic look. The extreme mobility will really help them while their software is lacking and the motions already look pretty good. The walking is the most human like walking I've ever seen from Boston Dynamics but it still has a funny double step thing. It's like it slams its feet down with every step.

Article states that this will be even stronger than their hydraulic robot which would be mighty impressive. I also wonder if it'll be taller, since the previous Atlas was under 5 feet. Either way, this is a huge moment from Boston Dynamics. They're throwing their hat into the ring with all the modern robot companies that are focused on products, not research. I don't expect them to move fast enough to really dominate but with a Hyundai factory work "in the months ahead" they aren't moving slow. If they have a niche, such as being far stronger and durable than other bots, I could see them find a lot of success.

The robot head is such a great design. That is the work of someone who wants to make the bot cool and iconic, which is a big sign of their intentions imo. This robot is way more than just a tech demo of their intentions.

neat i guess.   just worried this will do more to push people to PC than to pull people into playstation.   although i prefer consoles i think these types of moves are killing the user base to the point that consoles won't be financially viable.   xbox is already on the ropes and i'm adament that day-1 PC is the biggest reason why.    when xbox purchase ABK i responded by buying a steam deck...

if sony wants to be on PC so bad they should build a competitor to steam that is cross platform with playstation consoles.
