Late but starting now.

I think it's time to update this thread because much has happened since the Perseverance landing. Among other things, the test flight on Ingenuity is worth special attention. It finally happened two days ago, on 19 April 2021. The first attempt was unsuccessful due to certain issues with the software. The whole flight took 39.1 seconds as it was the test flight. In general, it was successful because the drone rose to the necessary altitude, maintained a stable hover, and safely landed without any damage. It's another big achievement for NASA and JPL.  I'll attach the video of this flight so everyone can enjoy it. I'll be glad to discuss it with you.

It was fun watching it live. Everyone just reading data unsure of what happened till they got the height graph.

I really want to see a dedicated drone mission. Could have it pop out of the entry capsule and land itself. Could cover so much ground and point out interesting locations for future rovers.

I love seeing it zip off screen.
